MSM excel with MRO capabilities
The turboprop intake on the left has been completely stripped and detail parts surveyed. Weld repairs have been carried out on the piccolo tube and NDT performed. Due to the amount of wear, a new aluminium bulkhead has been pressed on our fluid form press and a new erosion strip and packers manufactured. Minor composite repairs are performed on the carbon fibre fairing, then the intake is taken to be re-assembled in an ICY fixture to ensure exact fit back on the aircraft. This heavy repair has a 3 week turnaround time.
One we did earlier! The other intake came in with bird strike damage to the leading edge. The repair involved stripping down and cutting out the damaged section and removal and NDT inspection of the piccolo tube. A new section of leading edge was formed and welded into place ensuring perfect profile. Surface treatments were applied, then a coat of desert camouflage paint and the intake was back flying within a week.
