Fluid Forming

Saab fluid forming is the most efficient method to deep draw form intricate sheet metal pressings. The use of fluid forming, also known as hydroforming, makes it possible to form high temperature materials into complex shapes with superb repeatability and accuracy.

Our fluid forming process has the following features:

  • variety of low cost tooling - punch, cavity die, bulge, split tools.
  • zero "springback" - no post form adjustment.
  • minimised material thinning
  • high forming pressures - 10,000psi+
  • repeatability - less operator-critical than hot form or draw form methods.
